The Need for a Thorough Electrical and Generator Home Inspection

For those looking to buy a new home, they are counting on their home inspector to offer some insight into the type of service, condition of the existing electrical system, and any significant flaws he or she observes. Most importantly, you’ll need to ensure that the home is code compliant to avoid hefty fines and safety hazards.  Similarly, generators are complicated devises that need to pertain to a long list of standards for safety and effectiveness.

How We Can Help

Your Reliable home electrical inspector will determine the source of your home’s electrical service, which will either be overhead wires or underground wires.  Our inspectors know what to look for where the wires meet the home’s electrical wiring including an examination of the electrical meter. A simple visual inspection is made of your home’s system “disconnect” to make sure it exists, and then an estimation will be made of the wiring material used along with amperage and voltage. For safety reasons, your electrical system must be grounded. Your inspector will note how and where the ground exists, then look at the main electrical panel, noting its type and overall condition. We will remove the panel cover and observe the condition of circuit wires, then report on the visual condition of supply and circuit wiring. Inside, your inspector will make a thorough observation of wiring that runs from the main circuit panel to outlets/appliances in the home.

A generator inspector will perform all of the necessary safety checks, then test your generators functionality completely.  We inspect for parts in need of replacement, code compliance issues, and safety.  When we’re done, we always run a complete test of the system to make sure everything is working properly.

Your home inspection report will identify fire and other safety dangers and instances where you have inadequate wiring for your outlets and appliances being run.  At the end of our work, your home will be completely up to code and safe for all electrical functionality. Need to make sure your home is up to code standards?  Just call Reliable for a whole-home check!
